HOT ART: Basic Encaustic Techniques

This two day, hands-on encaustic workshop includes discussion of materials, equipment, safety, history, substrates and techniques. We will learn to apply, fuse and layer the encaustic, discover the spontaneity of mark-making, adding and reducing texture,  masking and stenciling, image transfer and more. Everyone goes home w/art!

GELLI & WAX: the perfect combo

Day one is printmaking with “gelli” plates, no press needed, fast & fun! On day two these prints become under-paintings for encaustic work, letting the colors and shapes inform the process. NOTE: Prior experience with encaustic is required.

This two-day workshop is designed to expand your basic encaustic skills.
